Thanks to you all for welcoming me here - especially Cheryl!
Thought you might like my story that I shared on May 16th at the Second Life lifestory telling day on Koru:

Arwenna's Story

Once upon a time, but not so long ago, in a far off land, that’s actually quite close, lived an old woman, well perhaps not sooooooo old, but not too young either. Now this old woman lived rather a hermit like life, all alone near the top of a big hill.

Sometimes it was very windy on the hill, and sometimes it rained for days and sometimes the sun shone and birds sang. It was a beautiful house on a beautiful hill and the old woman loved the wind and the rain and the sunshine and the trees and the birds and the hills around her - but always it was lonely.

Now this old woman kept herself busy, with her work and her interests and her books but every evening as the sun slipped away, she sat back and longed for company - people to dance with, people to laugh with, people to talk to........and she would stroke the nearest cat and sigh.

And then one day, as happens in stories, along chanced a very special person - and her name was Arwenna Stardust. The old woman never really knew where Arwenna had come from (or where she was going) but from the moment they met, the old woman knew that they had been made for each other - they were soul mates, closer than twins but as different as chalk and cheese.

Arwenna had an unruly tangle of red hair - just as the old woman had always craved for.
Arwenna was friendly and cheeky and energetic - just as the old woman had always dreamed of being.
Arwenna could talk to anyone, elves or klingons or humans! - just as the old woman had always done in her dreams.
Arwenna was funny and happy and helpful - just as the old woman had always hoped she was too.

Of course they had their ups and downs, their sulks and their tantrums - but always they remained the best of friends BUT best of all were the friends that Arwenna brought to the old woman's door,
friends to hug and share secrets with
friends to support and to support her in dark times
friends to play with, to work with, to laugh with and to dance with -

and the old woman learnt a very important lesson, from a friend who gave Arwenna this poem by Goethe:

'The world is empty if one thinks of only mountains, rivers and cities
But to know someone here and there
Who thinks and feels with us and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit -

This makes the earth for us an inhabited garden'

Thanks Arwenna - it's a good story about finding the other part of our 'selves'...
